Tired, Exhausted and Running Low On Energy?

Interpretation of the TCM terminology 体虚 ( xū): a sense of general discomfort, suboptimal health.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), 体虚 ( xū) is classified into four categories which differ in symptoms and treatment protocol. Take the time to peruse the following to see which category resonates with you.

Qi deficiency

General symptoms: Shortness of breath, easily fatigued, pale dull complexion, palpitation and chest tightness, low voice/tone, profuse perspiration during light activity, weak pulse and irregular heartbeat.

Recommended Remedy: Herbal tea or soup comprising of Ginseng, Astralagus or Jujube.

Acupressure points: 足三里 ST36

Blood deficiency

General symptoms: Yellowish complexion, dry skin and hair, pale lips and tongue body colour, nail dysplasia, dizziness, lethargy, insomnia with vivid dreams, palpitations and tinnitus.

Recommended Remedy: Herbal tea or soup comprising of Angelica Sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa or Longan.

Acupressure point: 血海 SP10

Yin deficiency

General symptoms: rising of internal heat, feverish sensation in the chest, palms and soles, hot flashes, night sweats, flushed cheeks, lean build, dry throat and tongue, weakness in the limbs, yellow colored urine and constipation.

Recommended Remedy: Herbal tea or soup comprising of Chinese wolfberry, mulberry or Cordyceps.

Acupressure point: 太溪 KI 3

Yang deficiency

General symptoms: Exhausted, cold sensitivity, cold hands and feet, pale complexion, weakness in lower back and knees, cold sensation in the abdomen with pain, frequent nocturia, thin and loose bowel movement, decreased sexual function, changes in vaginal discharge, dysmenorrhea, infertility.

Recommended Remedy: Herbal tea or soup comprising of Aconite or Intake of lamb and mutton to tonify qi and simultaneously assist yang recovery.

Acupressure point: 阳池 TE 4,气冲 ST 30,涌泉 KI 1
